Isn't it too Cold for Bees?...

...Me and Jo B were enjoying a cuppa and some gingerbread this afternoon when all of a sudden, out of nowhere...well out of under the sofa I guess -that or my trouser leg!- flew a bumble bee straight at us! It was bizarre. Where did that come from? Has it been in hiding since the summer waiting to pounce at an opportune moment or did it fly in FROM THE RAIN when we came into the house? Isn't water meant to make insects wings wet and therefore unable to fly?

So many questions, no answers, only the bee knows.
